Lower Saw Guard for about $5

Post by shipwright »

These are a few photos of my new saw guard for the greenie I have for sale. It came without any saw guards at all and I didn't want to sell it without at least a lower. Now my concience is a lot clearer.

And I still have this much of the stock pot left.

I think there's an upper guard there too.

Accounting: Aluminium stock pot--- $2 at the thrift store
3" to 1 1/2" ABS reducer about $3
+ Insignificant shop supplies =about $5

And it keeps the under table fingers on the hand.

Ingenious! I have been pondering pulley guards for my 3- ERs. It only takes a second to lose a finger. Perhaps a trip to the thrift store!

I like it , Paul! Reminds me of the Cuban car mechanics. Saw a thing about them on TV; it seems they have to be very inventive to keep their cars in shape.

Truthfully, I don't think much of that guard. It's very easy to flex it on that rubber mount and get the guard to catch the blade. When that happens, it's going to be about the same as directly sticking your hand into the blade.

Not Rubber

Post by shipwright »

It's actually remarkably solid. The mount is ABS and completely rigid. I certainly understand your concern if you thought it was rubber.

Thanks for the comment

Three R's

Post by shipwright »

kameljoe21

I just googled the three R'S and came up with Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, but around here we may prefer "Repaint","Recondition","Reclaim",or "Restore" or (for mickyd) "Really, Really Renew"

Thx for your comments
