Along with that 'noise reduction' comes wear reduction. That noise is parts clanging against each other.

There is a 'lesson' here! Since the shopsmith has varied over the years, a lengthy, accurate conversation needs to take place between the buyer and customer service when ordering parts for an 'older' machine.
