I do regret starting my check early but maybe that is because I am greedy. If I had waited, my entitlement would be greater than it is today. Yes, I know that I have drawn a check for three years longer than if I had waited but I plan to live long enough to make up for that.

After much work using Excell and various scenarios the break even point for social security is 77. At 77 most people will have recieved virtually the same amount whether they started SS at 62 or 65 (66 for most boomers).

After 77 those that start at 65 (66) will receive more however the total difference at age 90 is less than $60,000 or around $180 a month for those that started at 62.

I don't know if that will make you feel any better or not.

Correct. "New Posts" shows you just that, regardless of stickiness of a post. If you go to the actual forum areas (in this case, "General Woodworking") the sticky posts will be at the top of the list whether there are new posts or not. If there are new posts, the thread title will be in bold.

The folks in Customer Service, as helpful as they might be, are NOT going to be our first source of information about the release dater or price of the PowerPro.

It is just reassuring to me that they don't say "PowerPro - What's a PowerPro".

Maybe not - but just called CS and they told me they still had not received their test units. Boooooooo. But he said they are (still?) shooting for April release. Yaaayyyy! Everyone keep your fingers crossed.... meanwhile, I think I'm going to go make some sawdust...

Had an opportunity to talk with Linda at Shopsmith a few minutes ago. I called because the Power Stands are on an e-mail special and since I ordered one last August I had to check how soon it would be coming.
But that is beside the point. Naturally, in the course of our conversation I asked about the Power Pro.
Linda stated anticipated release is the April/May time frame. It will be available as a component of a new Mark V, as a headstock, as an upgrade and as a trade up for your existing headstock. As she phrased it, I understood her to say that the upgrade to your existing headstock would be done at Shopsmith. She went on to say that they felt few would want to trade in their headstock but that it was an option.

Edit added: She also stated that the Power Pro would be available in two versions, 110 and 220. The 220 will be a 2HP unit.

Not good news if ss is required to update, (not user upgradable)! Shipping cost will be an added expense.

I'm still mulling it over. As far as shipping is concerned, might be a good excuse for a road trip once school is out if I do decide to convert.
