I have been thinking of best way to do an out feed table, which is a little difficult with the SS and it's moving table. I got an email today from SS, who had a really interesting looking solution I had never seen.
I wish they had a bigger better picture but it sounds interesting. Does anyone have one? How well does it work? It says there are relief slot, I wonder if they are T-slot style.

I have one of the outfeed tables for my Shopsmith and use it often. There are no t-slots, just reliefs milled in the table to allow the miter bar to extend into the table without interference. I don't have the pictured outfeed table but I do use one that I built. My design is based on many of the characteristics of the Shopsmith table. I do not believe you would want the miter slots to be extended into the outfeed table. If they were, alignment of the outfeed table would become critical for free operation of the miter gauge. The reliefs allow the miter bar to travel without restricting it.
In my opinion, some sort of outfeed table is necessary to the safe operation of the table saw when ripping long stock (anything over three or four feet).

Try building one with your SS. With a bit of welding for the support leg and the attachment bracket you will find it an easy and fun project. You will end up with a table that meets your needs.

Very nice work there. OK I will bite how did you attach the hinges to the main table? This look very sturdy and easy to setup thank you for sharing.

Many, but not all of the 500 tables have a threaded hole (5/15x18) at the back end of each miter slot. A (5/16x18) knob holds the hinge bracket from the underside. Another member asked be about the bracket and I took a pic of it and sent it and when I can find the file I will post it. On some of the tables I have had to tap the threads. Check your table for the treaded holes.

IDH, great job, I will have to admit that is the weak area if any of my set ups. I have not tried to make an outfeed table yet and really need one like this or the one Nick had to really get my shop up to speed.
