Mark 5 / V part number size descriptions and cross reference
I'm creating a list of all fasteners that go into the Mark 5 / V that shows the actual sizes since the owners manual parts list doesn't always do so. Here's what the list will look like.

Any volunteers who would like to verify a dozen or so parts in a Mark V that I currently don't have sizes on?

.....Greenie/Goldie/MarkV
Tail Stock Assembly
.....P1058/1058/102581
Fence Assembly
.....P1056/1056/ qty = 1/1/? Later Mark V = 2(two holes anyway)
Miter Gauge Assembly
.....P1501/1501/? qty = 1/1/? Probably the same on V/500
.....P1670/1670/? Correct
.....P3041/3041/? Correct This is the tapered 1/4"? pipe thread screw.
.....A3106/3106/? Correct
.....P3113/3113/? Correct
.....P6316/6316/? So they left 'flat' off.
Headstock Assembly
.....P1016/1016/? MarkV appears to use two different set screws(???)
.....P1007/1007/? Should be P1697/1697
.....P1033/1086/? Goldie shorter (1")
..... NA /1086 See ^^^^^^^^
.....P1454/1454/445124 Look harder!
.....P1516/1516/? Internal tooth #10 lockwasher
All /? for MArk V are merely not verified by me!
Sorry about #2 - still do not know how/when!
P.S. It may be a good idea to limit THIS to V/500 Only in those areas that the 510/520 differ, and create a separate doc for them in those differing areas only(table etc.)

The Mark V manual that I have has different parts for the ref.# indicated above. Notice 26 thru 45 above compared to this:

dusty....are you able to determine what version of manual you have? date?
I'm really hoping the Mark V's don't have different versions of the manuals with different part ref: #'s and different parts.

Tis true! 'ref #' do vary! Must compare exploded views for comparison!!! And then there is the 'online' version!mickyd wrote: . . .

The part numbers in my list came from the online catalog that I have on my computer. I down loaded this catalog when the pdf first became available (I guess about two years ago). I have not done a comparison with the hard bond catalogs. I never expected there to be any differences.
Where there are differences, Mike, are the descriptions "similar". I worked for a defense contractor who used part numbers to distinguish between vendors as well as distinguish different parts.
I think that was done just to help to make it hard on the qualification test engineers.. I know that it made quality control issues very difficult. During design phase, two identical parts were not interchangeable if they came from two different vendors. Once we completed qualification testing, parts could then be co-mingled.

Although all the ref. # and some of the part numbers differ from the Mark V manual, the actual descriptions and sizes are "similar" EXCEPT, item 9, 504153 which shows a 1/2"-18 thread. Standard 1/2" thread pitches are 1/2"-13 for course and 1/2"-20 for fine. That set screw one would require a physical check before assuming it's an 18 thread per inch version. I assumed it was -13 course for my database.dusty wrote:The part numbers in my list came from the online catalog that I have on my computer.
