This is all very helpful - I really appreciate everyone's advice.
I enjoy making wooden toys and the SS breaking down has put an end to that.

quick disconnect for swith
Made a trip down to my electrical shop looking for some sort of fittings to redo the wiring to the On/Off switch, so I would not have to remove it next time I need to drop the motor to work inside.
He recommended something called a quick disconnect, but they don't sell them.
A search on the Net offered TOO many choices. Mine happens to be an old SS, with two wires incoming and 2 outgoing. Not sure if that was the origional wiring or some previous owner's method. Guess I will put that job off for a while
