This is all very helpful - I really appreciate everyone's advice.
I enjoy making wooden toys and the SS breaking down has put an end to that.

I saw the info about installing a plug and receptacle in line with the ON.Off switch.
Good idea, wondering just what kind of plug. Sure don't want one that will vibrate loose. Guess I could check at my electrical parts place.

Mine is the old one with dual wires in and out of the On/Off switch

Made a trip down to my electrical shop looking for some sort of fittings to redo the wiring to the On/Off switch, so I would not have to remove it next time I need to drop the motor to work inside.
He recommended something called a quick disconnect, but they don't sell them.

A search on the Net offered TOO many choices. Mine happens to be an old SS, with two wires incoming and 2 outgoing. Not sure if that was the origional wiring or some previous owner's method. Guess I will put that job off for a while
