There's another Rockler store in Torrance, CA, and a Woodcraft store in Orange County (Stanton, CA). The Woodcraft store offers classes, and the Rockler store often has demonstrations of various equipment and techniques. Of course, these aren't Shopsmith-specific, but are a good source of woodworking fundamentals.

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Northridge/Porter Ranch, although presently out of town. I'm a hobbiest, making wine racks, intrasia, pens, and toys. Been using the SS for about 6 years. Your welcome to contact me. I'll be glad to walk you through set up and safety. Not an expert but close to home. I had the benefit of the traveling academy after purchase. Watched a bunch of Youtube, and took a turning class at Woodcraft Ventura. Mostly learned by making sawdust.

Out of total coincidence I ordered "Woodworking Wisdom" yesterday morning after almost buying a huge stack of Nick Engler books on ebay. Then I read a post by Nick recommending this book over all his others and ordered it instead.charlese wrote:I second the recommendation by 8iowa to get hold of a copy of "Woodworking Wisdom" by Nick Engler. It is truly, a wonderful learning and reference guide!!!!:)
