Thanks for the idea. I am a little embarrassed that I didn't think of it. I have two of those engine stands. I have one tied up with an engine being rebuilt but these days I just don't ever need two at once. That should work great. I can keep both in the farm shop and just take one to the wood shop when I want to work on a SS.

I always thought it was D for 'displacement'. In any event, it differs from 'normal' oil in that it HAS an affinity for water, thus they mix. This prevents the water from condensing and causing rust.swampgator wrote:When WD 40 was created in the 1950's in California for the space program, it was to stop the water from entering the equipment and stoping rust. I've got a love/hate relationship going with the Shopsmith sales. For example right now I am planning on getting the drum sanding set with a post-online purchase discount. I also want something from the Father's Day sale, but nothing from the Overstock sale. So I'm waiting to see what will be included in tomorrow's sale before I order.
What bothers me is that I keep having to pay shipping over and over and over again in order to take advantage of the sales. I'm sure Shopsmith is doing what works best for them and it makes marketing sense. I'd just prefer a month's worth of sales all at once so I could make one big order instead of playing the wait-and-see game.
Yeah, I know I'm a whiner.

No, you are not a whiner or if you are you are not alone. In the past few months I have spent $109.42 for shipping costs on items that totaled $683.24 to buy from Shopsmith.
The Front and rear 520 Rails and the Belt Sander Belts would not have fit but all the rest of what I ordered could have been shipped in one Medium Flat Rate Box for about $10.50. If my estimate is off a little bit, the Large Flat Rate Box only costs $13.95 and would certainly held all but the belts and rails.

My last eight orders from Shopsmith (not chronological) cost me $8.49, $10.99, $12.49, $14.49, $14.49, $15.49, $16.49, $16.49.
There must be a better way - for us and for Shopsmith.

I do not hear the USPS complaining!:D If you want a 'monthly' shipment, make a 'monthly' order! I have been accumulating my items to be ordered list for a coupla months now! Fortunately none of them is 'urgent'.
If something 'urgent' crops up, the entire list will be ordered(and maybe some other stuff[Power Pro?] as well).

Enough said.
I just finished typing about a page and a half trying to show how this could all be done better. Better for users... AND... Better for Shopsmith. When I went to send it - it disappeared from my computer. Obviously I did something wrong but I'm going to take that as a sign and SHUT UP on this subject.
