Dial Caliper vs. Digital Caliper

Thanks, Dusty, for the photo and correct terms! I was erroneously using the term dial caliper, when I should have correctly called it a vernier caliper. I've now edited that post to show "vernier" rather than "dial". In my above post, I was comparing the vernier to a digital. My vernier caliper was made in Germany during the re-construction after WWII. I've had it since the 50s. It's stainless steel and shows inches and millimeters. Both units have their own vernier.

I had a dial caliper that was used about twice before it got thrown in the trash. The dial rotated for settings, but was so loose it would rotate on it's own.
Octogenarian's have an earned right to be a curmudgeon.
