Dead tailstock adaptor
I have a 4 jaw chuck that I want to addapt to the tailstock. I willbe boring through 2" square stock to make fishing rod handles The chuch has 1"x8 tpi and 3/4"x16 tpi. What do I need to addapt this chuck to the #2MT in the Tail stock. I have a 1/2" drill chuck with a #2 MT.Is there a 1x8tpi or a3/4"x16tpi with a #2 MT dead center? I found one with a live center. Or is there a addaptor for 1"x8tpi or 3/4"x16 tpi that would fit in the 1/2" drill chuck? thanks for any replys. Keith

Keith, I do something very similar to drill pen blanks. Check out the attached photo. What you'll need is a ShopSmith Tailstock Chuck Arbor 55603and a threaded adaptor for your chuck. I got mine at Penn State # L5818

Why do you want the chuck on the tailstock????? You have the 2mt drill chuck adapter. 1"-8tpi to 5/8" adaptor is available to allow 4 jaw chuck to mount on quill.keith c. wrote:I have a 4 jaw chuck that I want to addapt to the tailstock.
