I might mess that up. I'm considering cancelling my first-round order and purchasing later. We have the house up for sale and hope to be moving in the near future (ironically, partially so that I'll have more room for my workshop and Shopsmith.) This means I've little time nor space for woodworking since we have to keep the house ready to show, plus if things work out as planned, we will be moving about the same time the upgrade would ship. I'd rather see someone else have an early shot than to have my upgrade sitting in a crate in storage.

I save those big speaker magnets to use like that. In the farm/metal shop I have one on my old Craftsman drill press (from the early 1950's) up above the quill feed handle. It holds my chuck key and a couple of center drills.
I have one on my 510 for the chuck key and the SS Allen wrench. I have one on another SS but I can't recall which one sitting here. Ain't gettin old a hoot? :D

Related to lighting... some folks like to say that they are safe in a car because of the rubber tires... It is actually the Faraday cage effect not the tires. You can really get fried on a tractor. One scientist said it best, That bolt of lightning may have just traveled across 20 miles of open sky, it isn't going to stop for 4 inches of rubber...

Leave the SS where it can be seen. It sure will be a good way to start a conversation and that might even result in a quicker sale!!

Well now Paul I hope your moving and house selling plans move along far better than ours did. It took 30 months to sell our home. Then we took far less for it than hoped. The new home offered us a great deal except in the shop department. My new shop is 30% smaller then the last one. One day I plan to build an addition to the garage that hopefully will allow my dream shop. The good news is that I did not skimp on my shop additions during that 30 month period. I am having a ball unpacking crates that have been sitting in storage. Believe it or not some of the items I had forgotten I ever considered much less bought. Wonder times. Fjimp

I am not in line yet, but I am getting closer. I have almost saved enough.....just need to sell a speed increaser, bandsaw and jointer. Then I should be there. Darn, I haven't asked my wife yet.........better do that.]

After reading Part 3 of the Power-Pro saga, I think having a lift-assist goes from a "nice to have" to a "necessity" item due to headstock's increased weight.

The necessity all depends on a particular person's need. Motor weighs 10 lbs more, but we will lose the weight of the old drive system. My guess is 7 lbs more for the PowerPro.

Sigh. Some lucky soul just moved up the list to the first wave. I cancelled my order until such time as this whole "find a new home" adventure is over and I've got my trusty Mark V set up in it's new home.

I still intend on upgrading, but it just didn't make any sense to have the upgrade sitting in a box in storage when it could make someone else very happy now.

Sigh.

You could have just changed the to "deliver to" address and made me real happy without canceling the order.

A note to those ordering the DIY PowerPro Upgrade kit:
I checked with Shopsmith, and they confirmed that the new PowerPro idler bearing rides in the newer-style Eccentric, p/n 515616. The older-style eccentric (with the pointed allen-screw midway in the barrel length) doesn't work for these new bearings. Similar to the topic discussed here:
