Steve,

I caught one like this when we lived in Maryland. It is a type of rhinoceros beetle. Take a look at:

Lining drawers

Post by swampgator »

Made a few bandsaw boxes and would like to line the drawers for jewelry and other metal deposits. Thinking of gluing the fabric to some card stock, then glue the card stock to the inside of the drawer. I would like to hear of your experience. :(

I just finished relining the drawers of a machinist toolbox that had been my grandfather's. I used "Tacky Glue" and felt. I did not use card stock, just cut the panels to size and glued them to the metal of the drawers. I started with the bottoms and then did the front, back and sides. It looks like new.

I relined the drawers of a machinist chest with felt as well. The felt is thick enough that there is no need for cardboard backing. For thinner fabric like velvet, thin cardboard such as poster board or from a file folder works well. When you cut the cardboard be sure to make it a little undersized to allow for the fabric.

You could also try flocking fiber. I have no experience with this material but it looks to have potential.

I survived Friday the 13th. Dang, it didn't get that name for nothing! Spent all day in damage-control mode. Now it's time to relax.
