I leave my Shopmith Mark V, Pro Planer and Power Station with the wheels in the down position. That way I can grab them and immediately role them to wherever I need.
Does anyone see a problem with this practice? Will the springs become compressed over time?

I don't operate with wheels down because I feel that it is a potential safety hazard. I prefer that my shop equipment not move when I am using it.Lodgepole wrote:I leave my Shopmith Mark V, Pro Planer and Power Station with the wheels in the down position. I too leave my wheels down. Only time my wheels are up is when I am using it. That way if I need to move it, I can just grab it.

My wheels are always up unless it is being moved a fair distance.a1gutterman wrote:My wheels are always down...until it moves when I go to use it.
Since the wheels were done without for over 4 decades, they are not dropped to move it a short distance.
Old habits die hard!
P.S. It is not moved often.
