Mark 5 model 500 sawgaurds - Different styles

I was interested in starting a thread that shows the different styles upper and lower saw gaurds that went on the older Mark 5's. The style currently shown on the ShopSmith website for the Mark V model 500 tables is much more sophisticated than the older styles.

Here's the one that I picked up with my 2nd used Mark 5, SN 287942, born Dec. '54. The numbers represent the 10 various fasteners it had on it when I got it.

1. 5/16-18 x 1/2" Hex Button Socket Cap Screw Alloy
2. #10 x 1" Slot Round Thread Forming Screw, Type "B" plain steel
3. 5/16-18 x 5/8" Hex Socket Cap Screw Alloy
4. 5/16" Finishing Washer Steel Zinc (don't know why it's a finishing washer. Those are usually used with countersunk heads.)
5. #10 x 1" Hex Socket Cap Screw Alloy
6. 1/4-20 x 1-1/4" Hex Socket Cap Screw Alloy
7. #10 x 1-1/4"" Slot Round Thread Forming Screw, Type "B" plain steel
8. 1/4 x 1-1/4" Spring Pin Alloy
9. 1/4" x 1/4" semi tubular rivet steel
10. #10 x 3/16" solid rivet steel (2x) for the bench tube u-brace

BTW Who Manufactured your 'early' Goldie?

Reason I ask, is that I am suspicious the 1 1/8 hp / poly-v version was a Magna-American progeny. The timing is I believe coincident.

BTW the PP Headstock must work really well with 9" blades!
