Kreg Bandsaw Fence

The SS model will bolt right up to the SS Band Saw and comes with all the hardware. The Woodcraft one has all the same parts minus the SS mounts. Shopsmith purchased the Kreg unit and than packages with it the hardware and parts and instructions to mount it to your SS Bandsaw.

It is a mater of convenience verse sweat equity or ingenuity. The little micro adjuster is very nice, and I think that the fence is easier to adjust for the blade drift.

I just installed my Kreg fence. With tight storage conditions, I want to cut off what seems to be useless rail to the left of the picture. It extends a couple inches past the back of the saw.

Can anyone come up with a good reason not to cut this?

I also thought of cutting this off as I find it a safety hazzard in my small space. Can't remember why I decided not to

and might have to revisit this thought.

Yes, it works great!!! You need to drill & tap two 1/4-20 holes in the fence, however.

I saw that Micro Adjuster at a wood show here in Tucson a couple years ago. It was neat so I bought one. I don't have the Kreg System but I thought I could make it work. Have not figured out what to use it for yet but I will.

This thread has been fantastic. A lot of good information and a great marketing tool. I want one almost as bad as I want a PowerPro. Funny thing --- I don't do all that much resawing.

I wondered about the long rail extending to the left of the table myself when I first saw it. I still don't know why it is there unless it is required on other Kreg applications and it was just not engineered out for the Shopsmith version. I would bet on the later.

Idh, I have been studying your shop in the image in post #3 (this thread).

Aside from the fact that you have a Delta drill press AND the Mark V in drill press mode, I am curious about what appears to be a sliding table attached to the Mark V table.

If that table is adjustable bi-directionally, I would sure like to see more. Something like that would speed up projects that involve drilling holes that are critically located. Might be a place to use the Kreg Precision Adjuster that I have laying around.

I am sure you are correct as this Kreg attachment can be used on deeper length tables. I drilled new holes and slots so the fence could still be position againest the bandsaw housing and have additional room for the fence to be used in front of the blade. Moved the rails toward the front of the table. Never found a need for that position but it made the rails look like they were made for the Shopsmith.

No quite sure what you are seeing in post #3. I think it must be just odds and ends that are on the 500. The Delta drill press is a radial with an added table for clamping. I was doing a demo on resaw and the use of an overhead fence for the woodworking group when the pic was taken. I use a cross feed vise for bi-directional drilling.

Yeh, it is stuff laying on the table. Looking closely it appears to have 520 rails.

Anyone with an iron bandsaw table try this magnetic fence out yet? Looks really cool to me. Assuming it works perfectly (heh), its out-of square adjustability seems useful. I guess repeatability isn't a feature, but it seems like it could be a pleasant solution for a the iron tables.
