I cant wait to see it ....
I will do what I can.

Interestingly, I got an email from shopsmith today letting me know that there was a demo in my area. This should clear up the fact that these demos are fully sponsored/authorized by Shopsmith as well.

So it is legit (not that I thought otherwise). I got to chat with Mike for quite a while, which was quite interesting since all my shopsmith experience is secondhand.

The lowes deal is interesting (please note that the details are the best of my recollection, I am not a shopsmith rep or whatever):
-It is discounted by a more than $100. I'm not sure if thats all options or just the headstock swap.
-It drop ships from Shopsmith
-You pay lowes, and can use lowes gift cards and lowes credit cards (and therefore lowes financing)

Thats correct. Mike showed me how the lift assist now has a quick disconnect so that you can do the opposite direction tilt.

Oh, and if you buy through the lowes demos then you get put at the head of the line for shipping. If I understood correctly, if you buy this week you will have your unit shipped out the following Friday.

Yes, the lift can be mounted on a Mark 7 BUT does it provide an assist for tilts in both directions. It is my understanding that the user must disconnect in one direction.

If so, that is probably OKAY because for shaper mode the headstock is near the pivot point and below the table. Center of gravity and principles of leverage are working for you rather than against you.

These great pictures cleared up a lot in my mind about the pivots.
Question... are both ends now identical and interchangeable?

Both ends are interchangeable and identical from what I saw, which makes sense.
