lower shelf on ss?

Does anyone have plans to build a shelf onto the legs of the ss, for extra storage?

If you're thinking something like the accessory shelf, I built one without plans. I bought a board/plank, and two bookshelf mounting brackets from a Home Depot/Lowe's. I marked an angle on the bookshelf mounting brackets, cut those, then, attached them to the base. I then screwed the board to the brackets (which are now level); marked a bunch of holes for storage, and drilled holes and cut some slots for storing a combination square, live center, drill chuck(s), extra 5/32 allen keys, etc.

I built a separate rolling cabinet that fits under the Shopsmith in storage, and my cabinet holds probably 3x what any shelf could hold. All my accessories, extra blades, sandpaper, and etc. fit in the cabinet under the Shopsmith when it stores away.

I used a vinyl covered metal shelf instead of wood: lets most of the sawdust fall through to the floor. I only use it temporarily for things I'm putting on and taking off, like the sanding disc and saw blade, rip fence, push stick. I don't use it for permanent storage.

May I add my $0.0125 (adjusted for inflation)?
Adding weight to the legs m a y effect the alignment of the various parts. (For demonstration: mount the Extension Table on the left side (headstock), with a Level sitting on it, secured, in line with way tubes; have someone hold the leg on right end firmly near the bottom, then you pull the 'level' leg in the opposing direction at about the same height. The Ext. table surface may go out-of-plane with the work table (mine does) and you can then try to imagine all the problems that can cause with anything-- weight or even uneven floor-- adding undue stress to the legs.
My 100% Dust Free "under" cabinet is on casters and completely rolls under the MarkV, or out when moving things (unusual to rare).
Btw, it's amazing how much storage space there is under the SS! And no cabinet or rolling 'shelf' has to even touch the SS. BtwII- leave space for the workings of a Lift_Assist that you have or may have later.

I think everyone who has a SS has they're own idea of what constitutes efficient storage under the the unit. Here's what I did. No plans, sorry. The lower shelf actually rests/rides on the 'axle' for the casters.

With the standard "OEM" shelf, there is plenty of room. But with the double shelf mentioned above, that is a very good question.
