As for standing for a flag, I understand completely. It urks me with the flag ettiquete, didn't spell that right, with people not standing or not taking their hat off. Drives me nuts with the hat. Too many kids think the hat is their style and they can't remove it for anything. I saw 2 youth with hats on in church this Sunday. I think that urks me more

Apparently etiquette has changed!
Used to be never in the rain.
Used to be do not display after dark Later changed to 'or illuminated'.
Used to be never discard - burn it(respectfully).
FWIW those ignoramuses would not 'learn' from your good example. They would merely 'think' you were some strange 'idiot'.
The villages have become too large and the 'mind your own business' mentality too widespread.
On a side note re irksome 'behavior': Those folks with a shopping cart full that seem to think the express lanes were reserved for them.
On one occasion when a 'man' and what appeared to be his mother, were struggling to get all their stuff on the scales after ringing them up. I asked them if they were unable to read or unable to count(the sign clearly said 15 items or less).
The 'mother' looked at me with a sheepish look and the 'son' told me to "mind my own business".
At that point I asked him if he was familiar with the 'it takes a village' book. He replied that he was not. I then informed that apparently he was raised in the wrong village, turned and walked off.
If these places would enforce their 'limit'(automatically cancel out a sale exceeding the limit thus omitting any employee from the enforcement role), these clowns would cease taking advantage of the rest of us.
End Rant!
