lower shelf on ss?

I have the "OEM" shelf, but found it awkward to get at the casters - especially the left side where the miter gauge bar hangs down. The solution was to reverse the casters. Now I have plenty of room.

I was doing some maintenance on my SS & removed the accessory shelf that the previous owner must have installed. It stuck out in front of the machine somewhat. I don’t think I will be putting it back. I just realized how much in the way it was. I would definitely recommend either shelves that are completely underneath or a storage cabinet on casters. You don’t need a shin scraper. I think I will be building a storage cabinet on casters. Good luck!!! :D

Here's a couple of additional pictures. The pic posted the other day, is from the 'far' side of the 500. These photos are from the 'operator' side. I think it's clear? The lower shelf has enough clearance to raise and lower the casters.
