#1 I don't like the idea of metal near my router bits
#2 MDF is a wonderful material that can be made to perfect sizing
#3 MDF is cheaper
#4 I am a cheap SOB who would rather spend my money on another Mark V
(as long as the wife is not looking, I have 4 Mark V's
#5 In production you are more likely than not to start carving this sucker MDF is much better.

It is amazing to me that people would even consider something like this unless they have no experience at all. This is not intended to be a slight to anyone.

Hmmm.

Let me hold a router in my one had, a jig in the other, and lets see what happens.

Seriously, I can see a lot of blood coming as a result of this, Even with a trim router.

Darn hard to hold the router perfectly flush and vertical on the backside of the piece you are shaping.

I love tools... Any tools...

But, I will continue to mark corners with all sorts of stuff and trim them down and sand to a line. I often use coins (if I have any

), a roll of tape, a spray paint can or about anything else round. The size chosen according to "what looks good".
Maybe some day I will run across a set at a yard sale for a dollar and buy them just to mark with (or look nice hanging on a hook).
