"For whatever it is worth, I think $750 for that package is a GOOD deal. The three SPT together are worth the $750 making the Mark 5 free."

How is that being critical of anyone else's opinion?

I am sorry also because I do not consider expressing one's own opinion that may differ from another's opinion in any way is being critical of that other person. Differing opinion's are usually the result of differing experience or differing knowledge.

Lord knows I am an opinionated old fart, but as I said above I believe that opinion to be based upon my observations.

Lord also knows I have no right to be critical of another nor feel unduly criticized by someone with different experiences.

Variety is the spice of life(and mental stimulus).

FWIW one may never feel a need to 'apologize' for having an opinion differing from one I have expressed.

Now if discussing 'facts', make sure we are sticking to them in any 'discussion'.

I'll jump in:

I have two 500 models and I have used a 510 that was not mine. I think that the 500 is just as good as the 510 with the exception being if you are using it as a table saw. The larger table on the 510 model makes a big difference in that case. For everything else I have done, the 500 (even the
Greenie model) is just as good as the 510. I don't have nor have I used a 520 but from what I understand the difference is again the tables.

The price is "regional" for sure but it's mostly worth what YOU are willing to pay. I don't think $750 is a bad price for what your looking at.

Don't be harse. You are not seeing the entire picture right now. I deleted a commentary that was something of a satire stating what I thought MY Shopsmith setup was worth $8000 to me.

I get carried away from time to time and may step on toes while doing that.

I did have the benefit of having previously seen that part of the post, but did not think that omitted part was relevant to my response anyway.]all[/B]!:)

Don't really want to sound like $8,000 is being a piker, but my setup is easily worth over 10 grand to me, and it isn't even complete yet!:)

OKAY. I'm not hard to convince. I'll just up my minimum asking price. I do have two Mark Vs so the package must be worth at least $11000.

Actually, I have a near complete shop inventory that is annotated with the purchase price at the time I bought. My survivors will have to deal with those negotiations but I have given them the base upon which to set their prices. The grand kids get upset when I speak of this situation. They say they'll not sell any of it BUT time will tell. They don't seem to have time for making saw dust anymore.
