Off to shop with SWMBO then off to work, I will revisit this as soon as I can. I obviously have something kittywampa by about 5mm.

Now that Ed has pried open Pandora's box(I always assumed the roll pin and notch 'assured' tube/table alignment). Tain't so!!!!

So how much can it be off?

So off to realigning the tube and blade:

All references to left/right and front/rear are defined as that observed from the front side of the table with the 'tube' protruding from the rear side of the table.


The pix below show the blade set up for left side feeding(teeth would point to the left).

I prefer using a straight bar rather than a blade for alignment. Today I am using a very straight strip of black walnut that is about 1/16" x 5/16" x 5".

Step one: zero reference the angle gadget to the table left to right. This is not adjustable.(no shimming ]14340[/ATTACH]

Step two: Plumb tube to the table. Loosen clamp, press tube locating pin fully into the notch, then rotate the tube slightly till plumb and retighten tube clamp.

Step three: Verify Blade plumb to table left to right. Actually nothing to 'adjust' here since the 'blade' is inserted into the upper and lower clamps and positioned all the way to the right(all the way to the back of the clamp). This serves as a check on the tube plumb adjustment.

Step four: Plumb blade to table front to rear. This can be affected by two different adjustments. The table 0 degree stop and the positioning of the blade in the lower clamp. Normally one adjusts the table stop. For this discussion, I suggest centering the blade in the lower clamp then adjusting the table tilt stop.


I have not re set up for front feed sawing, but doing so and re-checking both l-r and f-r plumbness of the blade may indicate tweaking the blade table tilt stop. The front to rear blade positioning becomes not-adjustable due to the bottoming out of the blades into the back of the clamps, so only the table tilt stop can be adjusted. This then leaves the left-right plumbness adjustable by centering across the lower clamp.

Any changes made might affect the left feeding alignment.
