Is the 885586 supposedly a Shopsmith part. It is certainly not a part used in my bandsaw.

I have read them. I still have the same question. Is this a Shopsmith part? I have heard others refer to bearings in the Shopsmith as being water pump bearings.
It's not a Shopsmith part number. He found the part on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/c/8002850542dusty wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:27 pm

OKAY. Let me ask this differently. Is this bearing (885586) being installed in a Shopsmith band saw.edma194 wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 5:24 pmIt's not a Shopsmith part number. He found the part on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/c/8002850542dusty wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:27 pm

Shopsmith sells the bearing and lower wheel together: https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/ite ... tem=509032
Beats me. Looks like that info was his first 2 posts. I'm looking at that bearing on eBay, when I get a chance I'll take a look at one in a bandsaw, can't really tell anything from the parts diagram.dusty wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 5:34 pm

Find a #885586 Integral water pump wheel bearing on eBay or Amazon, it is the exact bearing and shaft used originally. It measures.625 shaft thickness, the bearing is 1.18 in diameter, the shaft on the wheel end is 1.75 inch and extends on the drive side 3 inches. I paid about $20. It is necessary to grind a flat on the drive end for the set screw. Otherwise you just need to heat the wheel so you can pull it from the old shaft, put the wheel on the new shaft and re install it.
Assuming he has a SHOPSMITH bandsaw.RFGuy wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:04 pmDusty, dusty wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 5:34 pm OKAY. Let me ask this differently. Is this bearing (885586) being installed in a Shopsmith band saw.
Yes, it appears to be the lower wheel bearing that he has found a non-Shopsmith version that can work. Note below that he had to grind the end of the shaft so that he could attach the drive hub to it in order to match the original Shopsmith part. So, it is not a simple drop-in replacement, but it does work according to him.
