Bandsaw blade

Bandsaw blade
Out of necessity, I had to buy a bandsaw blade for my 11" shopsmith bandsaw from a local hardware vendor. At the time I wasn't sure of the length of the blade. So I bought a 72 1/2" blade that is 1/2" wide with 3tpi. After I got home I reviewed the manual that came with my bandsaw and discovered that the blade should be 72". My question is ...will the 72 1/2" blade fit the saw if I adjust the tensioning screw to make the blade fit securely? There seems to be quite a bit of adjustment in the tensioning screw.

There is some leeway
As I recall, some of the blades I've gotten from places like Menards & a local farm supply store, vary as much as 1/2 to 5/8" & have worked fine. Just make sure you get enough tension. I only use the little gauge as a guide & I go more by feel anyway.
My dad's 1951 10er, 2 more 10er's, same vintage, a Goldie MK5, a 510 shortie with 34inch tubes, bandsaw, jointer, jigsaw, belt sander, a ton of small SS goodies and still looking...you just can't have enough Shopsmith stuff
