Another honey-do completed
Here is my latest honey-do project. SHMBO picked up an electric dart board on one of her yard sale excursions and wanted me to build a cabinet for it to hang in our sun room. It's made of 1/2" MDF for the back, 3/4" ash for the frame and facing and I don't have a clue what the doors are made of. They are a couple of boards I rescued from a trash pile. If any of you have a guess I would really like to know what they are.
I sprayed the interior and outside of the box with flat black. The facing and doors are finished with 5 coats of wipe-on poly with a light once over with 0000 steel wool between coats. After the last coat dried I went over it with Johnson's Paste Wax applied with 0000 steel wool which gives it a super smooth, satin feel and look.
Thanks for looking and be sure to give your best guess as to what kind of wood the doors are.

If not stained, based on wood grain and color my guess is mahogany.
Nice Dartboard cabinet.

Nice.. That will be one of my projects for my garage in the future.
For now there is no path long enough for that.
I used to play in darts tournaments won a bunch of cheap little trophies.
I didn't even save them. I saved the one I won in a Bass Tournament though.
Just for bragging rights First place

I spent a little over a year on an island in the south Atlantic. The island (Ascension Island) is a Crown Colony. Therefore, one of the major pass times was darts and the draw factor was the Locals against the Foreigners (from the USA).lightnin wrote:Nice.. I thought I had gotten pretty good. I left the Island with a couple trophies and three or four sets of competition darts. I don't know what made them competition. I think they were "balanced".
Whatever it was, they are just darts now. Darts with bent points from hitting the concrete floor.
Like so many other things, I have lost my touch.
FOR SALE: - three sets of "imported balanced competition darts". Each with different color feathers,:D

pool table
There is a pool table and dry bar adjacent to the alcove with the dart board, but I didn't make either. Those are the only sports I am still capable of doing after my back gets worse all I'll have left is checkers.
