Can this be done?

Post by retrobalmer59 »

I purchased a used 510 three years ago and am finally getting around to seriously cleaning it up and making IT the workhorse of my tiny but mighty garage workshop. Now, here's the question. My late father and grandfather purchased an Atlas JigSaw many years ago. It is belt driven. Can this relic be adapted to the shopsmith power coupler system? If so, how major an operation am I looking at? Thank you very much!!!

Got any pics of the Atlas jigsaw?

With a little imagination, there isn't much that you can't configure a Shopsmith to do. See if this gives you any ideas.

Take the blade insert off and put a pulley where the blade is. Use the table for a stand and put the belt on. It may be a little high but should work just make sure the blade is running the correct direction.
