A number of folks ask questions regarding what accessories should or might be present with various Mark V models.
We have had quite a bit of discussion regarding that topic through the years.
Recently a question was asked about saw guards for a 500, I by chance I came across this document while looking for something else.
It is perhaps one of the easiest ways I know of to identify the various saw guards, and fence variances between the models.

Roughly edited to correct 2004 documentation error - Thanks everyone

Re: A different perspective for accessories 500 - 520
The second picture down is a shelf with newer 500 equipment not 505/510.
Look at the top picture and see how long the rip fence is then look at the second picture, fence is the same length. Saw guard, first picture shows the old metal guards and the second is the updated 500 guard, if you look next to the sanding disk you can see the mounting hardware.
So we have a good comparison of old hardware like what I got when I purchased my machine in 1976 and then what I ended up with many years later and a step along the way.

Re: A different perspective for accessories 500 - 520
So the 'second' with the 'correct' blade guard and rip fence would be accurate for a 505-510.
Hmmmm cut/paste?

It came as you see it from this 2004 Shopsmith Document.

Good Eye - An original document photo error from Shopsmith in 2004
It is indeed the 555646 New style fence for the 500 they show in the second photo opposed to the 514378 for the 505-510 which would be longer (because the table is bigger) and it would have the newer style handle etc.
This kind of thing is why I created the side by side rip fence illustrations as noted in https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/view ... 90#p185690
I am working on other drawings, but have been occupied elsewhere with other projects.

Regardless, as Ed pointed out, it is 'incorrect'.everettdavis wrote:It came as you see it from this 2004 Shopsmith Document.
