BS upgrade cover a joke
Ordered a new BS cover door with the dust port and sight window, of course it took three weeks to get it and it showed up broken...of course..gonna have to call SS Monday. Thinking about just asking for a refund...don't know if SS monitors these forums, but they should be embarrassed to even sell this thing, what a joke, the plastic is so thin no wonder it broke, split at the sight window and shows white plastic stress mark half way across the door. Window popped out because the cover cracked and the dust port came lose, glue didn't hold, the hole for the dust port looks like it was cut out using a hack saw...lol...so even if I glue it back in looks horrible because it mount from inside out, you can see the hole. Can't get over how thin the plastic is, I mean paper thin. Got this on sale for $47 normal $60 something not worth more a couple dollars, really it is that bad...May be the LAST thing I buy from SS if their quality has got that bad, I can't express what a piece of cheap crap this is...so sad

Re: BS upgrade cover a joke
That's really strange about the cover quality problems .. aside from being smashed in shipping, anyway. I bought that same item a couple of years ago, and the quality was fine. I just took a pic of the dust-port cutout, below. Until your post, I had never realized that the port was glued in, rather than molded in.
I also just checked the thickness of the plastic on mine. The edges are thicker than the interior, so my dial calipers couldn't reach the thinner parts. Rarely-used micrometers to the rescue ... I measured between 0.130" and 0.140" on all the spots I could reach.
Sounds like maybe SS got a new vendor, or lost a good QC hand, or both.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Looking at it a little closer, think your right might be a QC problem. Only place it is thin is where it broke and has the white plastic stress mark across the cover to the opening, the hole I thought was ragged is actually glue squeeze out, just scraped it off some the hole is fine. Still going to have to send me out a new cover, this is cracked and looks bad with the white stress mark running across the cover. Looks to me like it didn't get molded right and missed on QC, if they even did a QC on it. It may have got bent during ship, but looks more like it was just thin and broke because of it.BuckeyeDennis wrote:That's really strange about the cover quality problems .. aside from being smashed in shipping, anyway. Re: BS upgrade cover a joke
A year ago I ordered a radiator shroud for my car, it is thin plastic, as the UPS driver was handing me the box that was crushed at one end said, " we better open this", sure enough, the shroud was in pieces, poor packaging. It was in a cheap card board box with no inner supports or padding.

Your frustration and disappointment is totally understandable. When a new part is purchased, it ought to be free of defects.
That being said, before the new cover was offered by the MS, I cut a hole in mine for a toilet flange for the DC hose, another for the inspection port and a final one for the hex wrench.
Didn't see a need for plexiglass in the inspection port.

Re: BS upgrade cover a joke
Just curious what did you use to cut the cover for the port and insp window, never thought of using a toilet flange...lol...did you just mount to outside or glue from the inside.. pretty sure I'm not keeping this one, we well see if MS is sending a new one or I just demand my $$$ back gonna call them in little while and test out this new CS on Sat deal...lolGene Howe wrote:Your frustration and disappointment is totally understandable.
