Bandsaw Bearing Rehabilitation with Matthias

Post by RFGuy »

In this episode, Matthias Wandel cleans and re-greases a neighbor's Shopsmith Bandsaw to stop the squeal noise that is common with it.

Yeah, I agree. Had to ignore the 2nd half of the video because of his complaints on the Shopsmith bandsaw design. Of course, I always take his videos with a healthy portion of salt, but I thought his scrap wood method of cleaning and greasing a bearing was interesting...

I like the grease repacking he came up with. He must like adjusting tracking on Bandsaws over and over and over again more than I do. :D

Agreed. Doesn't he sell plans for his homebrew bandsaws? I kind of figured any bias against the Shopsmith bandsaw is just because they are different from his design. He may not even be conscious of this bias...
