Planer on powerstand-square key coming out

Post by lelandschultz »

I have a planer on it's own powerstand and the square key (ref #110 on the parts lits) has come out twice now.
has anyone had this problem and/or do you know if there is a trick to get it to stay?

Sorry forgot to say that this is on the upper pulley not the lower one.

I had this happen on mine once. I fixed it by using some blue Locktite on the pulley set screw and firmly tightening. No problem since.

I have not been to the shop to verify but I believe the square key is held in place by a set screw in the pulley. I would check first for a loose/missing set screw. To reduce the likely hood of a repeat, I would replace the set screw.

Thanks for the tips. I will try the Locktite and check the set screw as I wans't sure if the set screw held in the square key or not.
I will let you know if this works.
