Congratulations - Good Work
Good job, charlese. I'm just disappointed that I can't take advantage of it. I have a Pro Planer and I wouldn't part with it, even for a free DeWalt and resharpenable blades.

Pro Planer
If you are a hobbiest (not a professional woodworker), I don't believe you will ever recover the capital cost. I justify these to myself and SWMBO as entertainment costs. I think a hobbiest works for self satisfaction and the accumulation of items that he(she) is proud to have built. I have a Pro Pl...

Blade arbor nut, 1 1/4"
Once I have loosened the nut using the wrench, I can take the nut the rest of the way without the wrenches.
As long as you know the threads are not damaged, I would just use the wrenches. Maybe clean the threads with a soft brass wire brush but nothing else. I prefer tight to too loose.

Hi friscomike, They may have other uses, but I think the most common is to hold the lathe tailstock in it's correct position repeatably. You could use the adjustable there too. The point is that either stop collar can be used on any of the SPT to allow installing that SPT without having to adjust h...

Need advice - new Shopsmith user
I don't know for sure but I think these other postings may help you with your headstock lock problem. I copied them and am pasting them here. I hope this helps. From a thread titled Need Some Help by hagarz71 Loosen the headstock lock all the way, until the handle butts up against the left wedge (th...

It sounds to me as though the locking wedges are still engaged even if you have turned the headstock lock as far as it will go to the left CCW). With the headstocked unlocked, you should be able to move the lock handle in and out about a quarter inch. With the machine UNPLUGGED , open the inspection...
