Dusty,

Amen to your post. I'm a no instructions guy too, but the last thing I want to do is mess up my Shop Smith, so I thought I would be really really careful.

Putting the instructions aside it all makes perfect sense thus far. Front is all set, turning the table around :)

Just realized that there were two sets of instructions that came with the upgrade... The 520 upgrade instructions (old tubes) have me all kinds of confused. Looked at the posts link above for the rip fence upgrade and it looks like it is a better manual to look at. Going to have to see how well the ...

I have the spacers, but there are no threads for the button head screw. the directions are pretty confusing and the parts numbers dont match anything anywhere, not even in my original manual. Upgrade to 520 issue

Currently working on getting my SS in top shape again. Thought I had a 510 because of the extra tables it had, and was confirmed by SS. Trying to upgrade to the 520, and Im thinking maybe I have to buy new tables, as the new fence attachment doesn't seem to screw on right. (Im a noob so it could be ...

I like it, half the price too! The whole reason I bought the woodrat was to get ALL the joinery done with a LOT less hassle. Still getting up to speed on it, but I knocked out a mortise and tenon to see how easy it would be from the get go, and I was impressed. Now, on to blind dovetails!

The ultimate machine for what you are talking about is the woodrat. Its a 6 axis router table :) A little pricey, but it knocks out those tenons and mortises faster than anything else I have seen. An added bonus is that it will help you with all of your joinery as well. -Ben http://www.woodrat.com
