Installing the DIY PowerPro Upgrade
I've had my Shopsmith since 1980, and purchased the Do-It-Yourself PowerPro Upgrade Kit for myself as a Christmas gift. Because my Shopsmith is in a poorly heated garage, I chose not to install it in the winter. Then by spring I had several "have to do" and "seriously want to do"...

Use of Craftsman Jig
A neighbor has an old but new Craftsman jig (still in the box). He's offered it to me at a cheap price. The box says that it works on any table saw with a miter gauge groove that measures 3/4 inch wide by 3/8 inch deep. The problem is that my Shopsmith is at my summer place in North Carolina, and I'...

Craftsman Molding Set
I recently came across a 30+ year old Craftsman molding set that I bought new for my radial saw and never used (so it's still new). I didn't have a Shopsmith then, but do now (500, upgraded to a 510). First, is it advisable to use this set on the Shopsmith? Second, if it is okay to use what type of ...

Saw Arbors
What is the difference between a 5/8 inch saw blade arbor for a 500 and that for a 510? They list different arbors for the Model 500 and the 510 in the Shopsmith catalog. I bought a 500 30+ years ago, and upgraded to a 510 8 or 10 years ago. I'm still using the same 1 1/4 inch arbors that I got 30+ ...

Re: Suggestion for old belts
Dusty - I must have been reading your mind. I broke still another belt after posting the question (and have ordered 6 new ones). Then I cut all 5 belts into squares and have them in plastic bags (60, 80, and 100 grit) for future use when hand sanding. I'm glad to know the problem is only old adhesiv...

Belt Sander Question
I've started a project and after cutting several pieces this morning I attached the belt sander. I'm sanding Douglas fir. In the last hour I've broken 4 belts. I've reset the tensioner as per the manual, have crowned the belts, and have adjusted the tracking as needed. I'm running it at D speed. Now...

Cutting Hexagonal Legs
I'm working on a project (table) that requires hexagonal legs, cut from 2x2 lumber. I made the same table 30 years ago and it turned out beautifully. However, now I can't figure out how to cut the hexagonal legs for the life of me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
