Re: Must-Have Shopsmith Upgrades List

One of the upgrades I would do is to the dust collector. I would replace the filter bag with a pleated filter. Wynn filters are used quite often but are fairly expensive. I have seen dust collector upgrades where others have used Donaldson filters off of amazon. Some of the filters used in the dust ...

Re: Baking center

Very Nice! Where did you source the power strips with integrated lighting? They look like something I need... - David I found them at Menards. I like that the lights can be angled down as needed which allows me to adjust to where I need the light. I put them where they are instead of on the undersi...

Re: Baking center

Finally was able to get back into the shop this last week. I think I am about done with the baking center as the shelving unit was the last major component that was planned. I used pine to make the shelving unit to cut down on some of the weight. Hubby helped get back on and getting it moved into th...

The weird washer is called a spindle washer. It can be found in an automotive store or on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R ... UTF8&psc=1

Re: Garden Trug

Looks good! I still plan to make a version of your garden cart. This looks interesting too. The cart works really well when dealing with the larger volumes of apples, pears and grapes that ripen at the same time. I do use it when digging potatoes, beets and turnips or picking lots of tomatoes. But ...

Garden Trug

Just a quick scrap wood project that fills a need right now. I found a design that was interesting, as I had not seen it before, on Instructables. https://www.instructables.com/Garden-Trug/ I have tried other trugs/baskets with a handle in the middle either length wise or across the width but did no...

Re: How to package a Shopsmith bandsaw for shipping?

I believe that if disassembled as suggested adding a couple of layers of cardboard would help by adding padding without all the extra weight of wood. There is also a method of using large bags to wrap the tool in and a bag top and bottom with spray foam to contour to the item. It can be a pain to do...

Re: Purchase of 1996 Mark V with a Big Suprise

The two clamp pieces remind me of the original Zyliss drill lathe pieces. The one without the bearing would hold your power drill with a drive center and the one with the bearing would hold a live center. Zyless later changed the lathe setup so not sure if there are many of them around. I do remembe...

Re: Upgrading from a Gilmer

If I update my Greenie from a Gilmer to PolyV do I need everything in the ShopSmith upgrade kit (#556490, I rebuilt the old motor so am good to go with that)? I am not convinced I need the highspeed bearing quill. Yes, you do need the new quill as the splines on your existing quill will not fit the...
