I certainly wouldn't buy it, at least not at that price. But, I'm cheap.
I first learned of ShopSmiths this past November/December. Did a bit of research and found out they were just sitting there on Craigslist. So, I picked up 2 different ads for $400 total. Included was 2 shopsmiths, a bandsaw, a ...

Re: Spiral scroll saw blades?
Well, Hobby Lobby was a bust. Surprisingly the prices at Woodcraft weren't too bad.
I figured I'd have more local emergency options for that blade.

Re: Spiral scroll saw blades?
Great suggestions! Obviously two I should have thought of. I went with the stores I frequently visit and those didn't even cross my mind. I'll try hobby lobby first. Should be cheaper there.

Spiral scroll saw blades?
Between Do-It Best, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Harbor Freight, and Walmart, I found a disappointingly limited variety of scroll saw blades. None of which included the spiral ones. Is there a store (physical location... Not online) that you get yours from? Or can I really only order them online?

Re: Broken band saw blade
I don't understand... Why? My blocks and bearings are fine. Bearings are brand new dual bearing setup, and I don't see the blocks causing any issues. There's plenty there, they're smooth and flat, and I feel absolutely no heat on the blade.

Yeah, agreed. It's a good thing I lied. [emoji1] I actually checked after I wrote that. The guides are closer than that. They're all but touching.JPG wrote:1/32" is excessive clearance.

Re: Broken band saw blade
Thanks jsburger, I appreciate that.
Well, I figured out the primary reason it broke. Not afraid to admit it when I do something wrong, stupid even.

Re: Broken band saw blade
The backup bearings about 1/32" behind the blade. Almost certain its a SS blade, came opened with the Shopsmith when I bought it. And no it didn't break at the weld.
