Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

The question was not asked of me but I speak my piece anyway. I have many hours logged on either the Crafters Station or the Power Station and I'll say both are noisier than the Mark but vibration has not been an issue. The noise and vibration eminent from the power transmission box. They have both...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

To be completely honest, if the motor on my Power Station ever goes south, and must be replaced, I have already decided I will replace it with a 3/4 HP. with 1750 r.p.m. run speed. My jointer lives on my Mark V, and I do not currently own the scroll saw. Even if I had the scroll saw, I would have ei...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

I think that is a great idea having a separate power source to run a Strip Sander backwards to sharpen Chisels. The Strip Sander used for sharpening Chisels is better than using the Chisel Sharpening Guide. I have used both. Let me know if there is any information you would like about my Power Stat...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

I would appreciate a sketch of the terminals on your motor as well as any labeling regarding direction. I may be assuming the internal connections of the start switch. With Dusty's motor, it makes perfect sense, but I am concerned re the white wire termination to "t4" and "B" re...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

So what you really need is a dpdt direction switch in addition to the min power on/off. That is the same function as the relay in the crafter's station wiring. A switch is much simpler than the relay dual power switch setup on the crafter's station. I agree! A dpdt direction switch is much simpler ...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

A question in my mind is the orange wire and internal motor wiring relative to it. It may be a gotcha! Also is there a third terminal on the motor connection board which MAY BE the wire from the start switch. I do not recall one on any of my powerstations. In order for the red/black wire swap to wo...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

Chad: If you understand those wiring for dummies diagrams thee definitely do not qualify as a dummy! If it would help, I can show paths for the two different situations. Quesion? Just WHAT are you doing? Are you including the two power switches. If not, the relay function is redundant. A question i...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

I haven't had the Crafter's Station long so not too familiar with it yet. Checking the parts list for it and the Power Station they both have the same part number (515623) for their respective motors. Russ, That's valuable to know, thank you for sharing. My Power Station is a model year of 1994, wi...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

Chad - Can you provide a photo of the wiring side of your relay? - David I wish I could, David. As of right now I completely disassembled the wiring modifications in order to check: * the motor for damage and proper operation (wired as it was originally from the factory). * the relay for proper ope...

Re: Crafter's Station - Request Wiring Advice

Here are the wiring diagrams I came up with (WIRING FOR DUMBIES, LIKE ME), all based off of Shopsmith's original Crafter's Station wiring diagram. I have thoroughly inspected them and they are a exact representation of the original. Note, the switch and the relay are mounted in a separate work box m...
