Hi Heathicus, for what it is worth build you a sled with two runners
in the miter slots to crosscut small pieces on your table saw
.this is very accurate and safe.make the back of the sled a least
4 to 6" high and you can miter also.and clamp the waste piece

Thank's to Dusty and others I was able to find out about the ss
saw dust session #24.It gave me the insite to remove quill and depth
stop on my mark v. the quill was frozen and I had to spray it often
and use a channel lock to remove it.the quill and gears on the depth

serial number for ss as drill press
don't worry about the set screw in the aluminum collar between the chuck and the headstock. Re-secure that setscrew with the collar in its original position and we can deal with that later. It should come off but not doing so does not play into your problem.
