Flashback with the Marathon Electric motor!
I went to work for them as Electrical Engineer after graduating from the University of Wisconsin, BSEE, back in 75.
Designed motors and generators for 8 years.

Re: Strip Sander
And... I bought a brand new set of snap ring pliers, made in the USA, just for the job, $19.99 + tax!
Did not work worth a darn for this application.

The problem with mine is the tracking control knob. After disassembly, and thank you JPG for your great pictures, I found the plastic knob portion of the tracking control knob is threaded into the full metal threaded stud that actually moves the tracking pulley. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2018...

Anyone had to tear into the Strip Sander?
I went to put on the sanding belt, pushed down on the tensioner pulley, and the whole pulley assembly stayed down. Looks like the spring popped out of its guide. Tensioner bolt was loose.

Strip Sander Eccentric Part Number

I looked at the parts list that came with the strip sander and it has a 513776 part number. When I use that nu...

Re: Should the bandsaw blade run on the lower bearing?
I now know more about the Shopsmith Band Saw than I intended. But I do have it running quieter than it ever has. A couple of take aways...Lithium Grease on all three bearings does wonders.
