Re: Help with Deciding

I'm not sure everyone has access to imgur so let me know if that's the case. Thanks again! As JPG said, not everyone has access to Facebook. Likewise with imgur. Never heard of it. Can't see the pictures but have to agree with David. As for the model 10's, again without seeing the pictures they are...

Re: What is this tool for?

Ahhh the foibles of buying stuff too long ago! Obviously I stand corrected! JPG, No worries. Do you have a different looking arbor wrench that you got from SS? Just curious if the origin of these changed over time. Yes they have. Just look on eBay to see the different versions. FWIW, the arbor wren...

Re: Cateract Surgery

FWIW, I just had my every 6 month checkup. Again no signs of glaucoma and I was 20/15 in my good left eye. The surgery has been a real life changer. If you are told you should have it done do it. You won't regret it.

Re: SC Johnson Paste Wax

I fail to understand the obsession with JPW. SS has not put JPW in the help kit or sold it individually for at leas 35 years. When I bought my 510 new in 1994 the help kit contained Trewax. I have not checked lately but I think it still does.

Re: 10E for $50

Seller apparently doesn't know what he or she has. For that matter, it’s not even a 10E! Not with that stubby style pivot base and such a high serial number… At least they got “Shop smith” [almost] right! :D The name plate says 10E. The S/N is 2?017. Probably other parts added during it's life time.

If you have never removed the knives in 5 years and properly sharpened them I think that is your problem.

Re: Finally bogged down the powerpro!

Seems to me something else is going on here. I agree with Al Gale on variations of stock thickness and also the planer sled technique in that are you sure the hot glue is holding the stock perfectly stable. I also agree with Matanuska on blade sharpness. With this kind of a set up you need to start ...

Re: AA C and D batteroes

Speaking of flashlights and batteries... I don't own stock in Thrunite, but they make a great flashlight. O-ring seals and aluminum construction like Maglite, but smaller. 3X brightness options. See photos. Instead of a long stack of D's, they put 4X AAs side-by-side in a drop-in carrier. I have an...
