Re: Updated Sliding Table
Taking a harder look at the improved version(s), perhaps this is a customer improved variant. (?) Main table appears to be the older fully ribbed version, saw blade is an older version (I think), no guards, and lighting variation in the photo is more consistent with a garage shop than other SS phot...

Re: Mark 7 rip fence
The lever actually has an over center feel to it when properly adjusted. It should not be pointing down to the floor. it should be about half way from horizontal and pointing straight down to the floor. It needs to be lubricated occasionally with a dry lubricant. I use a spray lube. If you don't do ...

Making a Lie-Nielsen Plane From Start to Finish
This gives an indication for why quality hand tools cost what they do. Lots of hand work involved here.

Re: Weight Question around Plan to Move a "Greenie"
I don't know for sure but I believe the bench/way tube assembly as you describe it after your disassemble will not weigh as much as the head stock or be very close to the head stock + or - a little. Bottom line, if you can handle the head stock the base/way tube assembly will not be a problem.

Re: Disc Sander Loosens
Older disks (aluminum) probably were not drilled at an angle to allow full contact with the flat of the set screw and the arbor flat. Try a round noes set screw.

Re: Quill Freeplay
I believe there are two things here to remember. There is quill shaft play related to the bearings. There is quill housing play related to the fit in the head stock. Eliminating/reducing one will not eliminate/reduce the other.

Here is one from today. Not real great but... The clouds have to be just right. We had about 12" of snow during the last week here at the house. Three different events. The northern mountains are doing great. Alta just about 15 miles east of Salt Lake City has had 50+" in the last week.

DeWalt Radial Arm Saw vs Shopsmith
Stumpy Nubs latest video talks about how DeWalt marketed the radial arm saw back in the late 40's/early 50's and beyond as the all in one home shop tool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zeg8fHVrJBk It has to be in response to the Magna Engineering Shopsmith that was kicking butt at the time. They ev...
