Hey there, just want to introduce myself, I am Willy, From Racine Wi.
I am a carpenter contractor by trade and have always had a fascination with the SS. Last weekend I bought one at an auction. more parts than I know what to do with, but I started looking on line and learned some things before I got in trouble lol. It came with a jointer and I had that running today and it works awesome. In the box of stuff also came a Kreg precision mitre gauge, and I let the guy that works for me have it ( he will get a lot of use out of that, he is a master) Anyway, it looks like I am missing the saw arbor, and I see I can buy them on Ebay, and in the store here. I tried to find out my model from the sites serial number identifier and it doesnt help me much. wondering if anyone can help. its ss207171 if I am reading that right, lol maybe I should have put on my readers when I was looking at that in the shop today.

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

If I am reading the chart correctly in August 1985 #206539 was the first model of that month and in September 1985 #208094 was the first model of that month. If this is correct your Mark V should have been made in August 1985. I could be wrong but below is the link to the SS serial number chart so you can check it out yourself. Hi Willy, From Racine WI. Welcome to the forum!
If you are missing the arbors might I first suggest taking a picture of your machine and posting it here. That way we can help you decide which model you have. The choice of arbor is dependent to some extent on which model you have. You will also most likely want more then one, assuming you find the shopsmith to your liking.
If you have parts which you can not identify posting pictures is also a great way to find out what they are. If it is a shopsmith part it is very likely someone here will know what it is.
Since the history of your machine might well be unknown to you we most often stress the importance of getting started on maintenance, mostly oiling, cleaning and waxing followed by alignment.
Hope you enjoy your shopsmith as much as I do mine.

Watch those eBay prices, they often go for more than new from SS especially arbors. No real idea why, other than some people must assume that SS no longer supports the machine and they aren't doing the leg work. I have met many people for whom eBay is their first shopping stop.
Do the maintenance, and ask away. Lots of helpful friendly people on the forum.

The difference between the different models is in the tables and rails not in the headstock so the serial number is not a help in identification.
The SS Mk 5's (two tone green paint and two tone brown paint) and
SS Mk V 500 have the smaller table and the table riser is a lever.

The SS Mk V 505 and 510 have the larger table and the table riser is a
crank. The fence rails are tubular and it includes floating tables.

The SS Mk V 520 has the larger table and an improved fence.
The fence rails are aluminum extrusions.
(the picture is of the new Mk 7 but it uses the same table system as the
Mk V 520)

Thanks all for the help so far, this one looks most like mine. I was looking a little more at it today in between jobs. The lower saw gaurd is plastic if that helps more. Mine does have a lever for the table as well This thing looks like its seen little use. Over the weekend I hope to get more pictures of it and post.
Right now I am trying to do the research by searching this forum and other places on the Web so I dont wear you guys out with dumb questions
by the way if anyone has any dumb questions regarding Miata's my Son and I are some what experts in that field, maybe we can share some knowledge (wink)
