Question on SS miter gauge

Post by ipbarnard »

I recently purchased a SS miter gauge off of eBay.

The seller said it was a MK V gauge.

It has a round washer near the front that does not fit in my table.

Does anyone know it it can be removed?

Thanks,

Remove the small screw from the center of the washer underneath the miter bar. The miter bar should then the 500 table slot.

The washer was added so as to be captured by the 'T' slot in the newer tables. Sort of a replacement for the lack of a front table extension.

Yes it is easily removed, but keep it for possible later use.;)

Is it a small flat head screw?

There is a small hole in the bottom but I do not see a screw head.

Should be obvious. Better post a photo. Be advised, there are a number of lookalike/knock offs of the Shopsmith miter gauge/pistol grip.

The shopsmith miter gauge requires a 3/32" allen wrench to remove the screw that secures the t-washer.

Update!

I had to set up my MK V as a drill press and drill it out.

I had hopped there was an easier way but some times that is all you can do.
