6" Jointer for ShopSmith

Has anyone heard of there ever being a 6" jointer for the ShopSmith? Something like a Harbor Freight knock off or something, gotta go find where I saw it...

There were several clones on the market in the 80s. I don't know if they originated from the same foreign factory but they are badged as Central Machinery if they came from Harbor Freight. Total Shop, Wood Master, and Menards are some other names in the mix.

I'd like to find one of those knock-off 6" jointers myself. Right now I have a Shopsmith 4" jointer and 6 1/8" benchtop Delta jointer which is identical to the Porter Cable one now sold at Lowes. The Delta jointer is loud and flimsy compared to the Shopsmith, but that extra 2" capacity makes me hang onto it.

Is it an accessory that can be found for sale? Quick search yielded no results so it's either very rare or very low quality.

The 6" joiner was an SPT offered for the Total Shop so look for anything that has Total Shop in the ad. Yes, I only had 1 TS 6" joiner in the dozens of joiners that I have seen or rebuilt. They are very rare and doubt if many were made. It is one heavy piece of equipment. I still have a set of joiner blades for the TS 6" joiner left if anyone finds one.

Looks like a jointer on the floor with a table on top. I can get it for you if you are interested. My son is at college there. An hour and a half drive for me to get it. Seriously no problem. Let me know. I will take the tubes and casters if you want to buy it.

I have a 6" long-bed jointer I bought from Menards maybe 12 to 15 years ago. It's a brand X but very well made and trouble free. I really love the long bed but for the life of me I can't recall ever running anything on it wider than about 3"... I do have a very good high powered 12" planer (5 HP).
I have a friend who operates a custom millwork shop and has for many years. He loves the very old industrial machinery (much of it on 3 phase power). He has a "HUGE" old 13" jointer that weighs over a ton. The last time I saw it I don't think he could dig down to it in less than a day.

He is an interesting guy. He builds his shaping equipment from scratch and uses lawn mower transmissions to drive the power feed. He also built his own 3 phase converter from scratch.
He does a lot of historically accurate millwork, a great deal of it for the state. It seems like every time I am in his shop he is working on a stack of really tired ancient window sash that the state wants restored but still looking old.
His main shop is next to our rental house in the next county east. He likes for me to visit him because I "understand" him.

Few people appreciate his "old junk". I was at the rental house one time and he came over to get me to show me his "new" table saw. It was quite a piece, huge and complex, chain feed and very heavy. He was grinning from ear to ear as he said "I moved up 100 years and it's still an antique!!"

Great deal with a bandsaw, belt sander and joiner. No sure it is a 6" joiner as I remember it being quite long. I wish I was closer to pick these up. I believe most of these SPTs used steel in place of aluminum so they are heavy and well built. The way and bench tubes are smaller 1.675" vs 1.75" for the Shopsmith however a Shopsmith headstock will fit and lock down on the TS way tubes. No Shopsmith part will fit inside the TS headstock. This will have steel tables but the miter bar groove is what the table saws uses so you can adapt one of their miter bar to the Shopsmith miter gauge. I was able to fit the TS tables in the Shopsmith carriage and the SPT legs are the same diameter. I still have 2 TS steel main tables, each with a miter bar front extension table laying around if anyone is interested.

Rlkeeney's pics are the ones I'd seen. Looking at the Aggieland pic I'm not sure it's a 6" jointer either. What's the width on the table?

How wide is the table sitting on the jointer ? Would that be a good guess as to how big the jointer is ?
