Master Maker

I am acquainted with a master maker named Josh Kinsey. You can find his work on Facebook at

The purpose of my post is not to to promote his work he sells but for the jigs and tools he makes to make his art pieces. Some of them are incredible works in their own right.

For lack of a proper term, it's amazing what a true visionary can see in his minds eye and the talents to produce these visions. I've spent nearly a half hour on his site and now feel like a speck of dust on his floor. Thanks for posting this. There are some fine talented folks on this forum too and we're fortunate to have them share their wisdom with us.

The above photo is called a steady rest. Used to keep spindles or bowls "steady" as you hollow (or drill) them out. Many on the market for $300 and up. A home made one does the job for a lot less. I mainly turn wood, so this has been on my wish list for a while.

Or possibly scooter wheels, Lee Valley sells them for that purpose. Polyurethane Wheels
I should imagine they would also be available from you local bike shop.

Some of you might remember the show he had on PBS years ago called Woodworks. He built a steady rest that is almost identical to the one above.
