If you are still looking for a free drawing program I would suggest open office draw. I utilize visio in my work but have used draw and found it to have the same functionality.

I have access to Visio, but have been unable to get it to draw colored wiring with the tracer, though some folks who customize it indicate that I can configure it to. I beg to differ, as despite how hard 'I' have tried, 'I' have been unable to configure it to and was hoping someone else knew how that could explain the process.

That's the element of a drawing program I want to find or configure. I have use for that functionality in areas beyond Shopsmith wiring.

I have need to draw wiring diagrams with most of the color/tracer combinations in the Sample I listed. I continue working on that issue in Visio 2013.

I really guess I should clarify my Visio issues after some have emailed me links for ground I have already plowed.

I can get multi colored striped lines in Visio as evidenced in the attached screen shot.

I cannot achieve auto scaling as the line widths change, requiring meticulous editing of point sizes in each selection, wire by wire, color by color, trace by trace. ie: 18 gauge and 10 gauge wire should visually be different in size to viewer.

I cannot achieve rounded corners in wires, even though selected. I can in other drawings that do not use the trace wire form.

I am disenchanted by the color separation on brown and black tracer on white wires... visually indistinguishable.

It's not that it won't work, it is that it won't yet work to my satisfaction and I have a great deal of work to do, outside Shopsmith wiring with wiring diagrams that involve many wire colors and tracers.

Been working on it off and on for months. Today I had a break through...

Now I just have to create them all, and convert them to templates....

I use Visio quite a bit at work, and I still can't figure out how you did that! :) Would you mind sharing?

When I get it finished and am satisfied with it, I will document it and give it away to the worldwide Visio community.

No joy to report on Visio for many I suspect.

I can do things in Visio 2013 that aren't in Visio 2010 and earlier versions so what I will share will be 2013. I will try to mention noted differences along the way.

I will get back on that next week sometime and will post a Visio Vsd and a PDF explaining how I did it.

As far as the Mark VII Manual, I can create it then save it as a PDF file so anyone could read it.

I will give JPG a review before publishing any thing on the Mark VII though.
