I used a silver paint marker to show where the opening for the keyhole slot because it’s hard to see it once you hook it with a pick and try to slide it over the knob.

Glad you got it working.

I have never taken my quill return apart, so was anxious to see the parts you described.

Thanks to rpd for downloading and posting your first picture and for the YouTube video... I decided to download and post your second picture.

In the future, if you could, it is much better to post pictures directly on the Shopsmith forum website. Years from now your third party hosting service may not exist and pictures may not be available. Shopsmith's posting methods and requirements are a little hard to follow at times, but if you keep image size 2050 pixels (or less) in width, AND 1180 pixels (or less) in width, AND total file size of 2 MB (or less), all should be fine. You can attach up to 10 pictures per post.

Thanks for this subject. The spring on my Mark V let loose. Once I pulled the quill and the advance mechanism I was able to see that the spring simply slipped off. I will now try to tap the "rivet" or pin down since I seem to have the same issue of reattaching the spring and it slips off as I start my reassembly.

Keep up the good work!
