I keep getting the error “The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again”. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue? Also, I could not find any way to contact the forum administrator at all on the forum.

Okay, thanks for letting me know that it’s not just me. I was beginning to think I had been banned! I still can’t get on. Maybe I’ll try another browser.

Update: no luck logging on using two other browsers: same error message.

That spring is not right. It looks like there are enough coils there to make 3 springs. You should contact Customer Service to get that corrected. Shopsmith should send you a correct spring. Fortunately, you can continue on the restoration as that spring can easily be put in place later.

That's what I thought too, Russ. I sent customer support an e-mail last night and this morning I was told they sent the pictures it to the engineers to determine what happened. To me, it looks like they just failed to cut it off and it slipped through QC. Anyway, like you say, it won't slow me down on the project. I can add it at the last minute.

What will slow me down is the impending storms we're supposed to get here over the next three or four days! It's been perfect painting weather for a couple of weeks now. But, the minute the paint shows up, the rain shows up too! Oh, well, I'll continue to work on polishing on the bare aluminum parts and see if I can clean up and sharpen this old table saw blade...

Oh, that's just a picture of a used spring I had pulled up on Ebay. Herman and Company is an Ebay seller that carries some Shopsmith equipment.

A quick progress update:

Weather cleared this afternoon and gave me an opportunity to paint some of the parts. The SS touch-up paint does appear a little glossier, like others on the forum have already pointed out but I think the color is spot on. I may just let it ride like that or I could but a clear matte coat to dull it down some when all is said and done.

I also made up two 2" PVC pipes to hold some Evapo-rust solution to soak way and support tubes. This was mainly to address rust inside the tubes as the outside surface of the tubes were in pretty good condition. There is some degree of pitting on the outside surface of the support and way tubes but I'm not expecting the Evapo-rust to have any effect there

The green string you see in the pictures is just a way to retrieve the tubes out of the pipes without spilling the Evapo-rust in the process.
