Ball Joint
I recently bought a new to me 510 after I lost my original 34 year old 500 in a fire. On the carriage and the right tail piece mounted with screws to the bases is a small 3/8 to 1/2 ball joint I don’t recognize. Searched my documentation can’t find out what it is, or maybe I’m missing some pieces. THOUGHTS?

Re: Ball Joint
If I were to guess I'd say they're probably part of a lift assist

Re: Ball Joint
Perhaps the Gas Spring Table Raiser - https://martins-supplies.co.uk/presta/d ... v-510.html
That would attach to the carriage and the casting.

Re: Ball Joint
The Gas Spring Table Riser for use when in Drill Press Mode is what I believe Docdare55 describes attached to his Mark V. Shown below.
_ .
Not the Lift Assist for raising to the Drill Press Mode as shown in the picture below.
_ .
As you can see the Lift Assist has the Threaded Ball Studs attached to the brackets for the ends of the Gas Strut. The Gas Spring Table Riser, that Ed provided the link to, uses a gas strut between the Carriage and the Base to help adjust the Table Height for Drill Press Mode.
Those are the only two accessories I can think of right now that have ball joint studs for the Mark series tools.

Re: Ball Joint
So it's a lift assist, not The List Assist.

Thank you all for the quick replies!
Re: Quick Release for Lift Assist
I'm 80 years old with a back problem (6 back surgeries) so I bought the PowerPro Lift Assist for my new Mark 7 (1 week old). Everything went great except for the "Quick Release for the gas cylinder" doesn't want allow you to pull the slide back to install or remove it. Has anyone had problems with it. Already been to YouTube, talk with Mike Young. Also had my neighbor try to move move the slide on the quick release with no luck.
