Storage Cabinet to tuck under the Mark V

I am looking to make a rollaway storage cabinet that would fit under the Mark V. Any plans or ideas would be appreciated:)

I am at least 6 months away from building my roll away cabinet, for under my shopsmith. It will be 3/4" plywood construction with 3 "compartments". I plan on having pegboard on each end to hang tools. I have already purchased the 10er wheels for mobility.

The 3 compartments will have horizontal slots cut every 2". That way I can customize drawer size to fit whatever tool I want to fit in this spot. The drawer bottoms will be pegboard and will extend 1/4" on the sides of the drawer bottoms. This 1/4" pegboard will ride in the slots. Please note that these ideas are based on a smaller cabinet that was featured in Wood magazine a while back.

Unfortunately, I have moved into a different house. So, there are other priorities in front of this project.

I think that making the drawers adjustable is wise. Making everything to fit just right pretty much guarantees that you will soon buy something that will not fit.

Say, I was just wondering, did you intentionally spell your name that way or did you mean "pcengineer"? Anyway, SS used to offer a set of three different roll around cabinets that fit under the SS. You may find them elsewhere. You could order the complete set (#555971) or individually (#'s 522319, 522320 and 522322) The part numbers no longer come up as good numbers on the SS site, but I gave them to you in case they help you locate them on the web. I have the set and like them. Another option is to hang a cabinet off of the bench tubes like this one.

Of course it can be! If you have a lift assist, you will have to do additional modifications too!

I think this is a great design for the smaller parts of the SS, but that jointer is heavy and as I age, I appreciate another thread here that some fellow made an upright cabinet for these larger and heavier parts. As was mentioned in one of these post that you can set them up on the SS, but in the time of need to cut a sheet of plywood or another same size sheet, this contraption will be in the way. Then you have to have some place to put it. My first stab at this issue for me is that I made an overbuilt dolly to put all my heavy stuff on and not have to bend and lift. Now, I am in the process of making a smaller cabinet much like the links here that will be on castors for the sake of the storage space and keeping all the tools organized. I don't mind bending or kneeling for the smaller and lighter parts. That's just what I have figured out in my 6 months of owning one of these wonderful machines.

Here are a couple of photos of my storage cabinet. I used 3/4" birch plywood, with solid walnut drawer fronts, and 1/4" birch plywood for the back panel and drawer bottoms. I don't have any drawings for it, but it measures 48" wide, by 15 3/4" deep, by 17 5/8" high. With the two dividers, each section or opening is 15" wide by 16 1/8" high. The drawer fronts are 4" x 14 15/16", six of this size, and 8" x 14 15/16", three of these, and they were attached to the drawer boxes with a couple of screws. The small drawer boxes are 14" wide by 14 1/2" deep by 3 1/4" high, the deeper drawers are similar except they are 7 1/4" high, and the drawer slides are Blum 14". There are six 2" swivel casters from Harbor Freight.

It's a relatively tight fit between the Shopsmith legs, but that hasn't proved to be a problem.
